In a large pot of water (2 liters), add 1 large chopped onion and 1 bay leaf and bring to a boil.  Boil while you prepare the meatballs:

Meatballs or “Klopse”:

1 package Maggi Hackbraten Fix
˝ pound ground beef
˝ pound ground pork
1 egg
1 tbsp. finely chopped parsley

In a bowl, mix the Hackbraten Fix with 1 cup water
Add the beef, pork, parsley, and egg
Mix well and with dampened hands form 8 meatballs (Klopse)
Drop the meatballs into the boiling water and cook until the meatball float to the top
Remove the meatballs from the water and serve immediately with Bechamel sauce (recipe follows)
Garnish with chopped parsley

(serves 3-4)

Bechamel sauce

˝ package (1 cup) of Knorr Fix für Bechamel
2 cups of water (for extra flavor use the hot water used to boil the meatballs)
˝ cup finely diced shallots
˝ cup heavy cream
2 tbsp. capers
Salt & pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients together until thickened and the sauce coats the back of the spoon.  Serve over the hot meatballs (klopse).  Garnish with parsley.
